My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The newly refurbished room in the older part of the hotel was quiet and comfortable, providing a good night's sleep. The investment in the rooms over the last year was evident, offering all the essentials for a pleasant stay. However, the ambiance of the hotel, especially in local areas, was not very inviting, and the view from the bedrooms was a bit scruffy.

Rooms
8.0
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, perfect for my one-night stay.
Service
7.0
The service was decent, and the room service was satisfactory.
Location
6.0
The hotel is conveniently located near the Watercress Line and right in the middle of Alresford. However, the local pub-like ambiance and lack of relaxation spaces for hotel guests were noticeable shortcomings.
Dining
9.0
The dining experience was really lovely, with freshly cooked meals, including delicious Neapolitan pizza.
Facilities
8.0
Facilities were adequate, and the hotel offered a comfortable dining room and a fantastic bar area.

5.8/10

The hotel had a mix of positive and negative aspects. While the room felt cold when I arrived due to the central heating being on a timer and the price seemed high for the amenities provided, the historical building with creaky floorboards added a unique charm. The location was convenient but noisy, and the dining experience was a hit or miss. Facilities were adequate but lacked modern features.

Rooms
6.0
The room was indeed cold upon arrival due to the central heating system timing. The price felt overpriced for the offering, and there was a hint of dampness in the corridor leading to the room. The historical aspects of the building with creaky floorboards and doors added character.
Service
7.0
The service, including room service, was satisfactory but nothing exceptional. It matched the historical setting of the hotel.
Location
5.0
The hotel's location in the center of town was both a blessing and a curse. Being close to local attractions and the Watercress Railway Line was convenient, but the noise from the surroundings, including the car park, was a downside.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was mixed, with some offerings meeting expectations while others fell short. The breakfast served in the dining room was average.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities were adequate but lacked modern amenities. The hotel didn't feel like a luxurious stay.
